Golf course superintendent Jon Heselwood has been named the sole inductee for 2012 to the Buffalo Hill Golf Club Hall of Fame.

Heselwood was nominated by Craig Drew, who cited Heselwood’s outstanding contributions towards the advancement of golf at Buffalo Hill.

Buffalo Hill superintendent since 2002, Heselwood has designed and remodeled the halfway house; designed and built the front patio and handicap access ramp; designed and landscaped changes to the clubhouse area, including the scoreboard area; and, designed and built a sand dryer, for better top-dressing results and the ability to return the greens to playable condition much quicker.

From 2010 through 2011, Heselwood designed, built and supervised construction of the new Cameron Nine/Driving Range complex.

“The project had been discussed, attempted, kicked around for years with no success and a fair amount of money spent getting nowhere,” Drew said in his nominating letter.

“Jon took it and created something that will serve Buffalo Hill in perpetuity and serve it well,”

Heselwood formerly was superintendent at Buffalo Hill from 1982-83. From 1983-90 he was superintendent at Eagle Bend and from 1991-2001 he was superintendent at Missoula Country Club.

Heselwood was inducted into the Montana State Golf Association Hall of Fame in 1994.

He has won numerous state championships, including the state amateur in 1992, state mid-am in 1992, 1993, 1996 and 1998 and state match play in 1996 and 1998.

Originally from Selah, Wash., Heselwood attended the University of Oregon and later graduated from Washington State University with a degree in agronomy.

Heselwood will be formally introduced at the annual meeting, April 25, of the Kalispell Golf Association.

All Buffalo Hill members, past and present, are invited to attend the induction ceremony at the annual meeting to celebrate with Heselwood and his family.

The Buffalo Hill Hall of Fame was begun in 2011 and the inaugural class included Marv Combs, Gene McGlenn, Dave Morberg and Alice Ritzman.
