Flathead Valley Community College has scheduled a public groundbreaking at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 22, for the new Rebecca Chaney Broussard Center for nursing and Health Science.

The new building will be at the south end of the campus near the tennis courts.

Tuesday’s ceremony celebrates the start of construction on the 32,000-square-foot building that will house nursing programs and other allied health programs offered at the college, as well as a new student health clinic to provide low-cost, basic services.

It was made possible by a $4 million gift from the Broussard family and a fundraising effort with a goal of $1 million.

So far, the college’s foundation has received $880,000 in donations.
