A 44-year-old man pleaded guilty Thursday during his arraignment in Flathead District Court to a charge of failing to register as a sexual or violent offender.

Evrett, who was convicted in 1995 of raping a 15-year-old girl in Oklahoma, moved from Eureka to a Flathead County home near Fortine without registering the new address.

Court documents also state that in addition to hiding from officers in the home and later in the woods, Evrett was living with a woman and her 15-year-old daughter. The woman told officers she was not aware that Evrett was a registered sex offender.

Evrett told police he had not updated his registration because he wants to be left alone.

He faces up to five years in jail and a fine of up to $50,000 when he is sentenced on July 5.
