A 42-year-old Kalispell woman pleaded not guilty Thursday in Flathead District Court to several assault charges.

Jennifer Paquette is charged with felony counts of assault with a weapon and attempted assault on a peace officer as well as misdemeanor assault with a bodily fluid.

According to a court document, Flathead County deputies responded to a disturbance in a wooded area in Evergreen near the former Walmart store on Oct. 13 and found two security guards holding down Paquette. One of the guards said she found Paquette and another man at a camp in the woods after hearing a disturbance.

The guard told police that she and the other guard started to leave when they heard the man yell “she’s stabbing me!” and saw the man was bleeding from his cheek.

While the guards tried to subdue Paquette, she allegedly put her hand under the entrance to the tent. The deputy reportedly found a knife under the floor of the tent near its entrance.

While transporting Paquette to jail, Paquette allegedly screamed and banged her head against the cage of the patrol car, causing her forehead to bleed. When the deputy stopped the car to take Paquette out of the car to stop her from hurting herself, she allegedly kicked at him and hit him in the chest, also spitting in his face when he pulled her from the car.

If convicted of all charges, Paquette faces between two and 31 years in prison and a fine of up to $101,000.

Her next hearing in the case is scheduled for Feb. 13, 2013.

Paquette is also charged with felony burglary in another case in which she is alleged to have broken into a Cottonwood Drive home on June 30. She faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000 in that case.
