Banff Film Festival hits Kalispell

| November 7, 2012 5:30 PM

The Flathead Nordic Ski Patrol is bringing the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour to Kalispell this week.

The festival, a program of The Banff Centre, is the largest and one of the most prestigious mountain festivals in the world. The festival is coming to the Flathead Valley soon after the festival held every fall in Banff, Alberta.

With stops planned in about 390 communities and 35 countries across the globe, this year’s tour features a collection of the most inspiring action, environmental and adventure films from the festival.

Traveling to exotic landscapes and remote cultures and bringing audiences up-close and personal with adrenaline-packed action sports, the 2012-13 world tour is an exhilarating and provocative exploration of the mountain world.

From approximately 300 films entered into the annual festival, award-winning films and audience favorites are the films chosen to travel the globe.

In Kalispell, the films will be screened at 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Flathead High School auditorium. Different films will be shown each night.

Tickets are $14 each and are on sale at Rocky Mountain Outfitter in Kalispell; Sportsman & Ski Haus in Kalispell and Whitefish; and Runner-Up Sports and The White Room, both in Whitefish.
