Slippery roads cause series of slide-offs
Emergency responders and police were kept busy by a series of accidents and slide-offs throughout the area, particularly west of Kalispell, due to the arrival of a snowstorm Thursday afternoon. Two rollover accidents were reported with minor injuries and another incident involved a school bus.
Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a School Addition Road home in Somers after it was reported that there was an American flag flying upside down in a sign of distress. Upon further investigation, they discovered the person was flying the flag upside down as a statement in response to the results of the election.
A black bear was relocated from the area of First Street West in Hungry Horse after it was reported having been around a house all summer and that it had charged at children and been up a tree in the area.
A spate of thefts from vehicles was reported, including several thefts in which the thief smashed windows to gain access.
A pair of rifles was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Montana 83 in Bigfork sometime Monday night.
Someone smashed windows on two vehicles in a parking lot on U.S. 2 West in Columbia Falls and stole items from within.
Several items were stolen from a locked vehicle on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell.
A pair of vehicles were burglarized on Ninth Street West in Columbia Falls, with a purse stolen from one of the vehicles.

A group of generous druggies asked a pair of disabled boys on Liberty Street if they wanted to do some methamphetamine.
A confused passerby reported that someone might be getting raped in a vehicle on First Avenue West. When police responded, they found no crime, but two people sleeping in a car at the location.

The Whitefish Police Department received two calls about a drunk man trying to kick down a door on Hazel Place. The man was upset about having been kicked out by his roommate several days prior.
A large black dog was the subject of two calls, first when it was wandering in traffic on Spokane Avenue and then when it got hit by a car on U.S. 93 South. The dispatcher hung up on the reporting party after she started yelling at the dispatcher about what a lousy town Whitefish was.
A concerned man reported his ex-wife had a car that still had his name on it and wanted to know if he was liable if she crashed it.
A man turned himself in on an active warrant.
Columbia Falls Police officers responded twice to a hotel on Second Avenue East, where a boyfriend and girlfriend were fighting.
Officers were called out the first time by the girlfriend, who said her boyfriend had thrown her to the ground and grabbed her wrists. When they arrived, the boyfriend said he was trying to get her out of the hotel room, which he said she was destroying. The officers then left, reporting she had just gone off on a “drunken tangent.”
When they had to respond a second time, police arrested the girlfriend.
A motorist struck a building on Fifth Street West, but refused medical treatment.
A purse was stolen on Sixth Street West.
Polson Police officers arrested a person during a traffic stop on Eighth Avenue for possession of alcohol or intoxicants.
A shoplifter was reported at a supermarket.
