Victor Miller, 94
Victor “Pop Pop” Miller of Whitefish died on Monday, Nov. 12, 2012. He was 94 years old.
An avid theater-goer and supporter for the seven years he lived here, he was beloved by all who met him, and always had a smile and kind word for everyone. In his own right, he had become somewhat of a local celebrity in the community.
Vic was born and raised in Boston. He wed Sylvia Sklon in 1943, and the two were married almost 59 years before Sylvia’s death in 2002.
Vic lived most of his adult life in New Jersey, where he owned and operated Puritan Maid Donuts in Linden. He was a big supporter of the local police department, but then again, what donut shop owner wouldn’t be? Hey, free donuts go a long way!
He was also president of the Linden Volunteer Ambulance Squad, and a Boy Scout troop leader. A crossword puzzle aficionado and prolific cribbage player, Vic was also a devoted fan of music from the Big Band and Swing era. He loved “hanging out with the young folks” and loved just being with all of our friends; they were his friends too. He lived life to the fullest and loved his family dearly. His humor and sharp wit kept everyone on their toes.
He is survived by his loving daughter Dayle and her husband, Tony Hernandez, with whom he lived in Whitefish; as well as by his son Philip Miller and wife, Susan, of New Jersey; grandsons, Joshua Mintz and wife, Jessica, of Whitefish and Torrance Hernandez and wife, Bennett, of California; and great-grandchildren, Ayden and Ashtyn Mintz of Whitefish, and Heather, Tara and Amanda Miller of New Jersey; along with numerous other relatives on the East Coast.
Dayle, Tony and family would like to thank everyone for their outpouring of love, friendship and kind wishes.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home, with burial at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
