Neighbor not liable for trapped dog
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office got a call Sunday from Honor Way in the Columbia Falls area, where a man reported that his dog was caught in a leg hold trap on a neighbor’s property. The man hurt his hand in freeing the dog and had to take his pet to a veterinarian. He wanted to know about billing his neighbor, but was advised that his dog was running at large and the neighbor would not be liable.
A person calling from Little Mountain Lane in the Whitefish area reported that there were two hunters shooting too close to her house and toward her house. The hunters were advised about regulations for safe shooting distances from occupied dwellings.
A passing motorist called to report that a man and a woman were swinging fists at each other in front of a business on U.S. 93 South of Kalispell. The two people were separated, and it was unclear if there were any arrests.
There was a report of two men stealing firewood at a Trap Road address in the Columbia Falls area.
The landlord of a rental on Idaho Hill Road in the Marion area reported that potential renters who were looking at the place found a broken door and windows, and apparently copper wiring had been stripped from the structure.
There was a report of a large log causing a traffic hazard in the southbound lane of Montana 35 in the Bigfork area.
A Haskill Basin Road resident reported finding a door and windows open at his house after being out of town, but he was uncertain if anything had been taken.
A teenage boy was arrested for partner or family member assault after getting into an altercation with a female relative at a Two Mile Drive address.
Kalispell Police got a report Sunday from a woman who said someone went through her car while she was in church on Woodland Avenue, but it appeared the only thing taken was a $5 bill.
A man calling from Third Street West said he was away for the weekend and when he returned home he found that someone had gone through the entire house. About $1,000 was missing.
After an officer stopped a vehicle on Second Avenue West and West Center Street, two people in the rig jumped out and ran away. One was caught and arrested on a warrant.
