Marvin LeRoy Helzer, 79
Marvin LeRoy Helzer, 79, of Kalispell, passed away in his home on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Marvin was born on Sept. 4, 1933, in Billings. He graduated from Park City High School in 1951. As a child, his parents farmed in Harlem, until 1949, then moving to Park City to farm. He farmed with his parents until 1958.
Marvin married Catherine Friedt on Nov. 14, 1953. In 1958, Marvin, Cathy and daughter, Susan (1955) moved to Billings where Marvin worked for Associated Foods until 1974. Sons Gary (1959) and Steve (1963) were born in Billings. The family moved to Kalispell in 1974 where Marvin worked for Rosauers, Semitool and Northwest Precision, until he retired in 1992.
He enjoyed camping and fishing with his family and grandchildren, gardening and woodworking.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Conrad and Marie Helzer, and brother, Gerald Helzer.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy; daughter, Susan Gilman, and Marty; sons, Gary and Debbie, and Steve Helzer; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Wilbur Helzer, of Billings.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home.
