Shot yourself in foot? Who would admit that?

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a 29-year-old man showed up at the Kalispell Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his foot. The man said his friend had shot him on purpose near a bar on U.S. 2 West in Columbia Falls. It was later determined that the man had shot himself.

A frightened woman reported that her boyfriend was driving the couple north on U.S. 2 in Columbia Falls on Sunday when they got into an argument, and he pulled the emergency brake, causing the car to slide to a stop. She said that when the vehicle stopped, he started choking her. The man is a boxer and she told deputies she was scared of him and also believes he may be driving past her house on a regular basis.

An upset husband reported that deputies left his wife at his home after he was arrested Saturday night. He said that his wife, who had not lived at the Frontage Road home in Columbia Falls for three months, trashed the place.

A teenage boy with quick feet fled a U.S. 2 East business with a bunch of merchandise and made it to a car several buildings away with an employee giving chase. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.

An irate grandmother threatened to have a person beat up if he showed up to pick up some speakers and a battery that he had loaned to her grandson.

A man reported two young men shot his dog while he was hiking on Crane Mountain Road. He was only two feet away from the dog at the time.

Deputies arrested a boy after receiving a report that another 15-year-old boy had been assaulted. The victim’s father said it was an ongoing problem.

A Tamarack Lane woman in Columbia Falls reported hearing an explosion that shook her home, but that she didn’t see any smoke or flames. The report turned out to be unfounded.

A herd of goats were moved after being found standing in the middle of Montana 206 in Columbia Falls.

A 17-year-old girl was reported for taking her grandmother’s vehicle from an Alberta Street home and keeping it several days without permission.

A home was burglarized on U.S. 93 South in Lakeside.

A DVD player and a splitting maul were stolen on Forest Drive.

A solar panel, a generator and a wood stove were stolen on O’Neil Creek Road.

A generator was stolen from a locked trailer parked off Star Meadows Road on a logging site.

Someone broke into a storage shed on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell and stole a mountain bicycle.

A vehicle was burglarized on Park Avenue.

There was a report of a person throwing firecrackers at vehicles on Hutton Ranch Road, but when Kalispell Police investigated, they discovered that the man was the victim of a practical joke. A passenger had loaded the driver’s cigarette with a firecracker — supposedly a common prank at the driver’s workplace. When the explosive began sparking inside the cigarette, the driver quickly threw it out the window.

That, of course, was not the end of the story. Another motorist, near whose vehicle the firecracker had detonated, followed the other vehicle’s occupants into a parking lot and shoved one of the passengers, believing the firecracker had been intentionally thrown at him.

A man who was digging through a trash can on East Idaho Street behind a tattoo parlor assured police he was only looking for a magazine to browse through.

A 10-year-old boy was sent away from a Seventh Avenue East North motel after breaking items around the motel and spraying graffiti on the walls.

Officers arrested a girl after it was reported that a pair of youths on house arrest had cut off their monitoring bracelets and fled the area, possibly to try and run away to Idaho.

A Farview Drive resident reported someone had pulled up in front of the house, put a gas can in the yard then drove off.

A would-be thief trying to catch a free buzz tried to steal beer from a Third Avenue East North business.

A rifle and satellite radio unit were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Beargrass Lane.

A hunting bag and some hunting gear were stolen from a vehicle on Second Avenue East.

Christmas lights were vandalized on Sixth Avenue East.

The Whitefish Police Department responded to two disturbances on Monday.

At 3:39 a.m., officers responded to an apartment on Baker Avenue, where a man was reported to have a butterfly knife out.

At 9:10 p.m., officers responded to a home on Copperwood Court, where a girl and her boyfriend were reportedly fighting over her being drunk and her alleged marijuana use.

The Columbia Falls Police Department received multiple reports of theft or thieves, including a woman stealing cartons of cigarettes on Third Street West; a welding unit stolen on Third Street West; and a DVD player, case, headphones and laptop stolen from a home on Karen Road.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a person for assaulting a peace officer at the detention facility.

Deputies arrested a person for assault while investigating a report of theft on Mud Lake Trail.

Polson Police Department officers arrested a person for disorderly conduct at a gas station.

Officers arrested a person for assault on Second Street East.

Ronan Police Department officers arrested a person for partner or family member assault on Third Avenue South East.
