Deadline for 'Catch the Vision' show looming
Artists interested in participating in the Hockaday Museum of Art’s “Catch the Vision” exhibition have until Saturday to submit their works.
“Catch the Vision: From Dreams to Discovery” is the Kalispell art museum’s annual emerging artists competition. The exhibition is devoted to the discovery, introduction and promotion of up-and-coming artists.
According to its website, the Hockaday’s goal is to help emerging artists gain confidence, develop their skills, build professional connections and get experience presenting and exhibiting works in a professional gallery setting.
The competition is open to Montana artists in any media who are beginning their careers as professional artists. The artist cannot be represented by a commercial gallery or have had a solo exhibition in a gallery or museum setting. Artists of any age are welcome to apply, but artists younger than 18 will need a parent’s permission.
There is a $25 nonrefundable entry fee. Three pieces of work are allowed per entry.
The first-place award is a solo exhibition in the “Emerging Artist” gallery at the Hockaday. Second prize is tuition paid to a professional workshop at the museum. Third place wins three paid sessions of the Hockaday’s Crits and Croissants artists forum.
The winners will be published in the Hockaday’s newsletter and on its website.
