Peppery fellow won't be charged

Kalispell Police officers responded to South Main Street after a fight ended in a cloud of fury when a man sprayed a woman and her brother with pepper spray. It was determined that the pepper spray was used in self-defense, and no one wished to press charges.

A convict with a substantial history of drug abuse was reported harassing customers in the parking lot of a U.S. 93 North business, telling them he just got out of jail and talking to them unceasingly, not letting them leave.

A Fourth Street East resident reported a drunk old man came to his door before leaving, returning and trying to get in again. The man, who was stumbling and sounded drunk, eventually wandered off down an alley.

A thief apparently looking to decorate his home stole a picture from the bathroom of a West Montana Street property.

A woman was arrested on an active warrant during a traffic stop on East Center Street.

Officers arrested people during traffic stops on Second Avenue East and U.S. 93 North.

A woman was arrested on a warrant on U.S. 93 South.

A purse was stolen from a vehicle on Fourth Street West.

A water tank was stolen on 10th Avenue West.


Flathead County Sheriff’s deputies solved a cat quandary at an Airport Road home where the resident said her son heard someone knock on his bedroom window, but that she couldn’t see anyone or any vehicles outside. The sound was determined to be caused by cats on the roof.

A Bierney Creek Road resident in Lakeside reported someone pushed in the basement window, but the resident did not think the suspect got inside. The resident said it was the fourth time someone has tried to break into the home.

Two men with flashlights were reportedly getting into mailboxes on Kings Way.

A Welf Lane resident reported a person staying at the house had pawned several of the resident’s belongings.

A woman cut down part of a tree without permission off Big Mountain Road in Whitefish. When confronted, she admitted her actions and said she thought it was legal and offered to pay for damages.

A person cut down a tree without a permit off Red Gate Road. Deputies located and brought the person back into town to return the wood.

Someone smashed in the window of a vehicle on Woodland Road in Columbia Falls and stole a bag of clothes.

Someone siphoned gas from a vehicle and also shot a BB or a small bullet through one of its windows on Ash Road. The culprit left a flashlight behind.

Gas was siphoned from a vehicle on Gunsite Loop, where the thief jimmied the lock on a gas cap to gain access. Gas thefts have been an ongoing problem at the property.

A vehicle was burglarized on Shady Glen Drive, although nothing was taken.


Whitefish Police officers arrested a man on Central Avenue after he was reported acting wound-up, disorderly and crazy, and screaming.

A vehicle was vandalized in a parking lot on Depot Street.


The Columbia Falls Police Department received several reports of thefts on Thursday.

Someone smashed a window on a vehicle on Third Avenue East and stole cigarettes from inside.

A vehicle was burglarized on Third Avenue East, but nothing was taken.

A bank on Ninth Street West chose not to seek charges against a man who came into the bank in a threatening manner, became belligerent and cursed at tellers after he could not withdraw money due to the fact that his account was overdrawn. After the confrontation, he stormed out of the building.

A woman was arrested during a traffic stop on U.S. 2 East.

A mailbox was found at a shale pit off North Fork Road.
