Immanuel Lutheran receives commendation

| October 1, 2012 6:00 PM

Immanuel Lutheran Communities has received the 2012 Excellence in Action Award for excellence in customer satisfaction.

It is the second year in a row the corporation has won the award, which is based on surveys of residents and family members. Immanuel Lutheran operates The Retreat at Buffalo Hill, Immanuel Lutheran Home and other facilities in Kalispell.

The award recognized the corporation’s excellence in skilled nursing, memory support and rehabilitative services. Immanuel Lutheran was in the top 6 percent (576 out of 9,200 skilled nursing care facilities) according to My InnerView, a division of National Research Corporation, with 96 percent of Immanuel Lutheran residents and family members rating the organization’s service as “excellent” or “good.”

Kathleen Larson Phillips, pastor and chief executive officer, said Immanuel Lutheran Communities focuses on hospitality and the needs of those served. The award confirms the corporation’s success in those areas, she said.

“Our employees have a heart for serving seniors and strive for excellence on a daily basis by living our motto: We ask. We listen. We serve,” she said.

The survey asked family and residents for comments about rehabilitative, skilled nursing and memory support at Immanuel Lutheran Communities. These comments included:

• “The staff is excellent at providing a safe, nurturing environment. They also do very well at meeting the resident’s needs, such as having a variety of activities for them. The great care and concern shown for the comfort of the resident is very much appreciated.”

• “The staff is very loving and caring.”

• “I think you do an amazing job! The care and compassion of staff is appreciated. The variety of activities offered is commendable. Meals and snacks are great.”

• “A caring, hard-working staff [with] accommodation for individual patient needs [and good] communication with families. Laundry staff is exceptional in their attention to details. Respect for individual privacy. Thank you for training your staff so carefully.”
