Los Pinguos return to Whitefish stage

| October 3, 2012 6:30 PM

Playing a fusion of reggae and Latin rhythms, Los Angeles-based Los Pinguos will perform at the O’Shaughnessy at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 as part of Whitefish Theatre Co.’s 2012-13 season.

Three years ago, Los Pinguos performed for a packed house in Whitefish and had the audience clapping their hands and dancing in the aisles with its infectious and vivacious sound.

Los Pinguos is back with Spanish guitars, a Cuban Tres, Peruvian Cajon (box-drum) and harmonizing vocals — a sound that has claimed fans worldwide, from their hometown of Buenos Aires, Argentina, to the streets of Los Angeles.

The band’s story began in 1999, when the four members of Los Pinguos formed a group and played throughout Buenos Aires. Their live shows garnered a devoted fan base, which inspired the group to pursue global attention.

Los Pinguos headed north to the California shores in 2001. After winning the grand prize on “The Next Big Star,” one of the first reality talent search shows filmed in Las Vegas, Los Pinguos provided music for television shows and an award-winning documentary, and has extensively toured venues and festivals in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
