Grizzly moved from C. Falls

| October 4, 2012 5:35 PM

A 4-year-old male grizzly bear was captured Tuesday northwest of the Meadow Lake Golf Course near Columbia Falls.

Tim Manley, a state grizzly bear management specialist, said the bear had been eating apples in residential areas over the past week.

The 333-pound bear was trapped about 50 yards from a house in the Chubb Lane area.

The bear was released Wednesday in the upper Whale Creek area in the North Fork Flathead River drainage.

The bear, which hadn’t been previously captured, was fitted with a radio so its movements can be monitored.
