According to Principal Lona Everett several community members came together to make access to the upper parking lot safer and more convenient. "Farm-to-Market Road is a pretty major road and we are in a bit of a blind spot here," said Everett. "A lot of time we don't have people slowing down they way they should." With the overall goal of making things safer for the students the school decided to add stairs to the steep embankment, add a bridge over the water runoff ditch, and add a flashing light to alert drivers to the potential pedestrians. Board member Tony Hagadone constructed the bridge. Plum Creek donated more than 1000 to the cost of the bridge. Steve Matelli donated labor for installation of the lights. Lincoln Electric helped with the wiring and donated 2000 dollars to the lights and equipment. And the County repainted the crosswalk stripes. Everett is grateful. She said the cost to the school for these improvements has been about 500 dollars.
