GREAT FALLS — Logan Jones took the opening kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown and 12 seconds into its football game against Great Falls High on Friday, Glacier was already turning it into a rout, eventually winning 56-0.

The fifth-ranked Wolfpack (6-2)special teams were superb, turning in the kick return, blocking a punt for a touchdown and nearly taking back a punt, only to have it called back on a penalty.

“Our special teams went off tonight,” Glacier coach Grady Bennett said. “That was story ... right off the bat to open with a kick return, then block a punt, that was huge.”

Glacier got touchdown runs from Jones and Aaron Mitchell. Taylor Hulslander threw two touchdown passes to Kalen Reed and another to Kyle Griffith. At one point Hulslander completed 10 straight passes to his receivers.

Backup quarterback Brady McChesney threw a touchdown late to Jake Barstow.

“You don’t necessarily want to be throwing in that situation,” Bennett said.

“They made it tough to run ball, so we tried to throw some quick passes to get out of pressure and they made a play.”

The game ended on an ugly note as Great Falls wide receiver Jordan Jernigan needed to be carted off the field in an ambulance. Jernigan was seen giving a thumbs up and waving his hand before he was taken away. Officials called the game with 12 seconds remaining on the clock, with Glacier holding possession.
