Flathead County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Hungry Horse Wednesday evening after one man shot at another man over an issue related to a dog.

Police radio traffic indicated that the victim and his friend were in a house when another man from down the street came outside, yelling at the victim about his dog, and emptied a whole clip from what was believed to be a .44-caliber handgun at the men and the First Street South West house at about 4:45 p.m.

Deputies arrested a man shortly before 5:30 p.m., but he was determined not to be the suspect. The actual suspect was contained inside his home while authorities waited for enough resources to “tactically remove him from the place safely,” according to Sheriff Chuck Curry Wednesday night.
