Wolfpack hangs on at No. 5

The football polls stayed largely unchanged this week, as Glacier and Polson held firm in the most recent run of voting.

Glacier kept its spot as the fifth-ranked team in Class AA, receiving just one fewer vote than Great Falls C.M. Russell at No. 4. Butte became the unanimous top pick, garnering all nine first-place votes as the state’s only remaining one-loss team. Billings West, following its victory over then-No. 1 CMR, rose to No. 2 while Helena High also rose a spot to No. 3.

The Class A poll did not shift this week, as Billings Central retained the top spot. Polson, the state’s only other undefeated squad, stayed at No. 3 as defending state champion Dillon held strong at No. 2.

The only dramatic shifts came in the Class B poll, where Bigfork tumbled three spots to No. 8 following its loss to Missoula Loyola. The Rams tied Red Lodge for No. 3 as Manhattan and Malta kept their places in the top two spots. Florence-Carlton took Bigfork’s former spot at No. 5.

Fairview kept the top spot in Class C 8-Man and Hot Springs is still ranked as the top team in 6-Man.
