A recent fundraiser netted thousands of dollars for a Kalispell museum and entertained guests in mountain man style.

The Hockaday Museum of Art’s Rendezvous on Swan River earlier this month raised $15,000 of the museum.

The rendezvous focused on authenticity and historical significance, according to a news release from the museum. Tepees, tents, chuckwagons, bonfires, a restored trapper’s cabin and a small, rustic “jail” helped create the old-time atmosphere on Ferndale properties belonging to Denny and Kitty Kellogg and Jennifer and Randy Wright, who hosted the event.

About 150 people attended the Oct. 6 event, which featured a talk by Denny Kellogg about the historical significance of the area, an authentic Blackfeet tepee and plein air painting by guest artist Ron Ukrainetz, and a flint knapping demonstration by Rich Petterson.

Laura Ennis of Kalispell won a prize for Best Rustic Attire. Lisa Shrock of Kalispell won the raffle for an original Ace Powell oil painting.
