HELENA — The second-ranked Flathead Bravettes are Class AA regular-season Western Division volleyball champions.

Flathead took care of business on Thursday, dumping Helena High 25-20, 21-25, 25-23, 25-18 in a key matchup.

The Bravettes (10-0) also swept the season series with the Bengals (7-3).

“They were No. 2 (in the league) so that was a really important win for us,” Flathead coach Leon Wilcox said.

“It was a tough match, a hard-fought match. I was proud of how the girls did. They got off to slow starts in games 1 and 2, but then picked it up. Game 4 we pretty much rolled the whole way. We got a rhythm going.”

By winning the league title, the Bravettes earn an automatic berth to next month’s state tournament. The Western Division regular-season championship was the first for Wilcox in his sixth season with the program.
