Bigfork repeats as District 7B football champs

BIGFORK — The Bigfork football team clinched the District 7B title for the fourth straight season, beating Eureka 41-6 on Friday.

The Vikings fell behind early but rolled the rest of the way, riding the arm of Colter Trent.

Trent ran for a touchdown and threw for three more, going 17 of 25 for 237 yards.

Chris Landon pulled in two of those scores and had six catches for 122 yards.

Boyd Rieke led the Vikings on the ground with 18 carries for 100 yards.

“It was a championship night,” Bigfork coach Todd Emslie said. “The team played great.”

Eureka’s Chris Ibach scored the only touchdown for the Lions and finished with 101 yards on 22 attempts.

With the win, Bigfork (7-1 overall, 4-0 7B) will host Choteau (5-3, 3-1 1B) in the first round of the playoffs next week. Eureka (3-5, 3-1), also is headed to the postseason, where it will start at No. 1 Manhattan (8-0, 5-0 5B).

Frenchtown 28, Whitefish 7

    FRENCHTOWN — Logan Fisher scored on runs of 3 and 52 yards to help Frenchtown defeat Whitefish 28-7 in the Northwestern A regular-season finale.

    Whitefish (3-6, 1-3) scored on a 72-yard pass from Luke May to Logan Harwood.

    Frenchtown (5-2, 3-1) moves on to the Class A playoffs next week, hosting Butte Central (4-5, 3-2 Southwestern A).
