Glacier downs Big Sky

The Glacier volleyball team impressed on senior night, beating Missoula Big Sky, 25-8, 25-17, 25-19 in Western AA play.

Rachel Chery had nine kills and three blocks as the Wolfpack swarmed Big Sky all night on their home court.

“It was a good start,” Glacier coach Christy Harkins said.

“They came out excited and ready to play. We had a lot of enthusiasm in the gym.”

Glacier will host a Class AA play-in match against Missoula’s Big Sky or Hellgate next week for a chance to move on to the state tournament in Bozeman Nov. 8-10.

Whitefish 3, Libby 2

LIBBY — Whitefish outlasted Libby in a five-set slugfest, winning 25-23, 17-25, 27-25, 17-25, 15-8.

“Both teams battled hard for four games,” Libby coach Cindy Ostrem-Johnston said. “The wheels fell off (for Libby) at the end.”

Emily Sullivan led the Bulldogs with 18 kills, 11 digs and three blocks. Lauren Wepprecht had a team high 19 kills and seven aces to lead Libby.

Libby closes its regular season tonight for senior night against Polson. Whitefish is done until the divisional tournament next weekend in Frenchtown.
