MISSOULA — Now comes a well-deserved break for the Flathead volleyball squad.

The second-ranked team in AA finished off regular season play Saturday afternoon by dumping Missoula Big Sky 25-13, 25-20, 25-12 in Western division play.

That gave the Bravettes a perfect 12-0 mark for league matches and an 18-4 record overall.

“We played a good, solid match,” Flathead coach Leon Wilcox said.

“I thought everybody kept their heads focused on the game. They saved the conference celebration for afterwards.”

The regular-season championship gives the Bravettes an automatic berth into the state tournament Nov. 8-10 in Bozeman.

Wilcox said this is third time since 2001 a Western division team has been undefeated in league play. Butte did it in 2005 and Helena in 2010.

It’s believed to be the first time Flathead has swept conference play and just the third time it has won a division title.

“Now we regroup and start working for the postseason,” Wilcox said.
