Chinese delegation in town for two weeks

A contingent of Chinese educational leaders has arrived in the Flathead Valley for a close-up look at American vocational/technical education.

The two-week visit by the six Chinese educators hosted by Flathead Valley Community College is part of the Vocational/Technical Education Leadership Training Program.

Their visit kicked off with welcoming ceremonies and a gift exchange Monday at FVCC.

The visiting dignitaries include Zhejiang Technical Institute of Economics President Chen Li-neng, Chien-shiung Institute of Technology President Wei Xiaofeng, Yunnan Vocational College of Mechanical and Electrical Technology President Li Shanhua, Guangxi Technological College of Machinery and Electricity Vice President Jiang Wenpei, Shanghai Academy of Educational Science Associate Professor Du Xiaoli and China Education Association for International Education Program Coordinator/Translator Li Qian.

A large portion of their time here will be spent observing all facets of Flathead Valley Community College.

They also will visit Kalispell Regional Medical Center, Nomad Global Communications Solutions and Glacier High School.

The visitors also will attend a Kalispell Chamber of Commerce banquet, see the FVCC Theatre production of “Rocky Horror Picture Show” and even participate in trick-or-treating.

Also on the itinerary are visits to Helena, Missoula and the Lincoln County Campus of FVCC in Libby.

The delegation also will take short hikes in Lone Pine State Park and Glacier National Park.

The group will depart on Nov. 10.
