Thieves get off to busy start for week

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received several reports of thefts and burglaries across the valley on Monday.

Tools were stolen from a home under construction on Gleneagles Trail in Columbia Falls.

Several items were stolen when a home on Montana 35 was burglarized.

Copper wire was stolen on Halfmoon Road in Columbia Falls.

A grinder and other items were stolen from a storage unit on U.S. 93 South in Kalispell.

Snowmobiles were stolen on U.S. 93 West in Whitefish.

Hunting clothes were stolen from a camper in the driveway of a Somerset Drive home.

Someone rummaged through a vehicle on West Cottonwood Drive.

Deputies were unable to locate a group of methamphetamine-smoking transients camping in a Winnebago on U.S. 2 East in Columbia Falls.

A student’s parents were contacted by the superintendent of a lower valley school after the 12-year-old was found to have a knife under four inches in length. The student had not used the knife at the school.

A large “wolf-type-looking dog” dragging a chain got into chickens on North Fork Road in Columbia Falls, then took two of the chickens when it left.

An observant businessperson found a bunch of brand new electronics in a trash can, which he believed had been stolen from somewhere and then stashed in the can.

A group of teenagers were spinning brodies in a parking lot on U.S. 93 South in Kalispell.
