Bigfork perfect on the pitch
BIGFORK — There was more good news from the pitch on Saturday for Bigfork’s boys soccer squad.
Kyle Thomson scored two first-half goals as the Vikings tripped Libby 2-1 in Northwestern A conference play.
Bigfork is now 3-0 overall, 2-0 Northwestern A.
“I’m happy, the kids are happy,” Bigfork coach Keith Koslosky said.
“Good stuff.”
The undefeated Vikings are off to their best start in Koslosky’s seven years directing the program.
“I really like the way the boys are playing as a team,” he said.
“They are a pleasure to watch.”
Thomson, who now has scored three goals this fall, put Bigfork on top at the 12-minute mark and followed with a penalty kick at 32 minutes.
Johnny Davidson scored for Libby at 75 minutes.
“Senior Anthony Fopp (holding midfielder and center midfielder) held us together,” Koslosky said.
“He did everything that we asked of him. He managed the field for us.
“Bryce MacCallum, a junior wing, had a terrific game. He played outstanding.”
Bigfork’s next two outings are nonconference affairs — at Belgrade on Friday and Livingston on Saturday.

WHITEFISH — Not only is Whitefish undefeated thus far, but the Bulldogs have yet to allow a goal after three matches.
The Bulldogs rode the scoring of Sam Donaldson and Sean Janni, two goals each, to an easy nonconference victory.
“It’s not our goalie and just our back line (figuring in the shutouts),” Whitefish coach O’Brien Byrd said.
“It’s our team defense. It’s very cohesive, smothering right now. It also creates a lot of our offense.”
Janni, Nathan Boone, Brandon Fuehrer and Hunter Lamoureux had assists. Boone had three of them.
“Our captain, Sean Janni, had an outstanding performance pulling the strings in the midfield,” Byrd said.
“He was definitely the MVP of the game.”
