A 55-year-old Columbia Falls man has been arrested and charged with sexual abuse of children after an online sting in which a detective pretended to be a 13-year-old girl.

Alan Burke allegedly had several sexual conversations with the detective, calling himself a “dirty-minded old man,” and eventually tried to meet in person.

A court document alleges that Burke clearly understood the supposed age of the intended victim and that he told her she would be his sex slave and would perform acts on himself and others.

He allegedly stated that they would have to be discreet because he could go to jail.

Burke was arrested Aug. 16, and four days later posted a $100,000 bond and was released from jail.

If convicted, Burke faces up to 100 years or life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

His arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 6.
