Rock drummer from band Chicago to play in Kalispell

| September 5, 2012 5:00 PM

Rob Spencer and the Drum Den are hosting rock musician Danny Seraphine Sept. 23.

The evening of music and dialogue will run from 7 to 9 p.m. at Glacier High School.

A true giant of jazz rock drumming, Seraphine built his reputation as Chicago’s drummer from 1967 to 1990. His playing anchored classic songs such as “25 or 6 to 4” and “Saturday in the Park,” combining the driving energy of rock with the swing and nuance of jazz.

After leaving Chicago, Seraphine co-founded California Transit Authority with guitarist Mark Bonilla. He recently released a new album, “Promise,” as well as an instructional DVD and autobiography.

At the Kalispell concert, Seraphine will debut songs from his new album; demonstrate grooves from his new DVD, “The Art of Jazz-Rock Drumming”; and discuss his book, “Street Player: My Chicago Story,” which details his years with the band.

Doors for the concert open at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $20 each and are on sale at the Drum Den, 22 Fifth Ave. W., Kalispell.
