Soccer roundup: Flathead boys tie Helena Capital

HELENA — The Flathead boys soccer team eked out a tie with Helena Capital on Saturday, finishing the game scoreless for its first draw of the season.

The Braves (0-3-1) got seven shots on goal and two corner kicks. They were able to hold Capital (1-1-2) scoreless, despite surrendering seven corners.

HELENA — The Wolfpack lost its first match of the season, unable to find the back of the net after conceding a goal in the first half against undefeated Helena High (4-0).

The goal, scored by the Bengals’ Caymen Beason in the 23rd minute, was the only one of 15 shots that got behind Glacier keeper Ryker McIntyre. The Wolfpack (3-1) had 14 shots and four corner kicks but were held scoreless.

BELGRADE — The Whitefish boys wasted little time in taking a commanding lead in a blowout with Belgrade.

Brandon Fuehrer needed just 30 seconds to score his second goal of the season, giving Whitefish a very early lead. Sam Donaldson and Tommy Murphy each scored just a few minutes later to put the game away. Donaldson finished the game with two goals and two assists.

Matt Killian punched home the winner for Bigfork in the 75th minute.

“(We) just really came out with a different mindset in the second half and took control of the game,” Bigfork coach Keith Koslosky said.

Reserve sophomore Isaac Passwater gave the Vikings a boost off the bench, putting pressure on the Rangers.
