Whether you’re looking for a unique touch to your special event or a sweet and savory treat to start your day, Amazing Crepes in downtown Whitefish offers a touch of class to even the simplest meal. Specializing in crepes, this restaurant offers far more than the traditional fruit entrees.

The owners

Found at the restaurant most days, owners Todd and Becky Horning started Amazing Crepes after seeing a very unique take on traditional crepes while visiting Thailand.

“There was a guy in the Bangkok airport with a crepe that had mayonnaise, chocolate, raisins and shrimp on it,” Todd said. “We had a background in fine dining, and thought we could come up with something unique like that, although that particular flavor combination hasn’t made it onto our menu yet.”

The restaurant started as a mobile food truck putting in appearances at local farmers markets and art events throughout the Flathead Valley in 2005. The truck quickly gained a following.

“We opened the store in 2009 and have been doing very well ever since,” Todd said.

In fact, they are considering expanding their operation into Missoula — or even franchising, according to Becky.

The food and vibe

Offering the traditional sweet crepes as well as unique savory combinations, there’s something for every palate. From simple Nutella and banana combinations sure to satisfy your sweet tooth to more delicate and sophisticated flavors like gorgonzola and pears, Amazing Crepes is perfect for breakfast or an afternoon pick-me-up.

Each crepe is big enough to be a meal in itself or to share with a friend. Finish your treat with some espresso before hitting the shops in downtown Whitefish.

The shop itself is located in the heart of the downtown shopping district and shares space with Remedies Day Spa. Seating is somewhat limited in this cozy cafe, but there are a few tables available on the sidewalk so you can people watch and enjoy the warm weather.

The restaurant is set up so passersby get a great view of the crepes being made in the front window.

“It’s exhibition cooking, since you can walk by and see us making each crepe fresh to order,” Todd said.

Open seven days a week, year-round, Amazing Crepes offers salads in the warmer months and soups in the winter, with local, fresh ingredients whenever possible, including Farm to Market pork. And although Amazing Crepes is not a certified gluten-free facility, they do offer a very low-gluten option with buckwheat instead of the traditional white flour.
