Doug Miller, 53, “went home to be with the Lord” on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012. He died from a heart attack while doing what he loved, hunting with his son, Ben.

Doug was born June 13, 1959, in Kalispell to Ben and Verla Miller. He attended school in Kalispell.

He began working at Plum Creek in May 1978 and was employed there for 30 years. During this time, Doug made many lifelong friends.

In February 2008, Doug went to work at Mountain Meadow Herbs as a production manager, and worked there until his death.

In 1980, Doug was blessed with a daughter, Amanda.

In August 1986, Doug married the love of his life, Cindy Mantel. They were blessed with two children, Erica and Ben, during their 26-year marriage. Doug loved spending time with his family enjoying the outdoors.

Doug had many passions in life. He loved pastoring the youth at The River Church for 11 years. “He saw many lives changed for the Kingdom.”

In January 2008, Doug went on a mission trip to Africa, which greatly impacted his life as well as the lives of many others. Doug continued the relationships that were made there until his death.

Doug was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lance and Lula Claridge, and Jack and May Miller; his father, Ben Miller; his stepfather, Tom Guerrero; his son-in-law, T.J. Koenig; and numerous aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy; his children, daughter Amanda Koenig of Bozeman, daughter Erica Cook and husband Trent of Kalispell, and son Ben Miller of Kalispell; mother, Verla Guerrero, of Kalispell; sister, Lori Ness, husband Jim, and daughter Jaymie Hoover and husband Jake; brother, Russ Miller, wife Janice, and sons Jody Miller and wife Katie, and Austin Miller and fiancee Taylor Guthrie; father- and mother-in-law, Ken and Enid Mantel; sister-in-law, Jill Baier, husband Ken, and daughter Stacia; brothers-in-law, Ken Mantel and wife Liz, and Kirk Mantel and wife Candi, and sons Steven, Lucas and Cameron; sister-in-law, Kerrie Maitland, and husband Dave; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at The River Church, 859 West Reserve Drive in Kalispell, with Pastor Paul Arends officiating.
