UPDATE: Glacier football game smoked out

MISSOULA — The Glacier Wolfpack football game against Missoula Hellgate was canceled on Friday night due to heavy smoke in the Missoula Valley.

The announcement was made just after 6 p.m.; the game had been scheduled for 7 p.m.

Smoke spreading from the Bitterroot Valley from a host of fires burning in both Montana and Idaho contributed to unhealthy air quality in Missoula.

An earlier Glacier High junior varsity football game also was canceled.

The varsity game has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday in Ronan.
