Oops! Bullets flying overhead for hours

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a Whitefish man who reported bullets had been flying over his head for hours, and that he didn’t believe whoever was shooting realized they were shooting toward houses. The man later found the shooters, who were indeed unaware of the houses and ceased firing.

Deputies responded to West Evergreen Drive, where a pair of teenage boys were smoking out of a pipe and had told the man who reported them that it was a “special spice.” Neither of the boys had any drugs on them, and although they had two glass pipes, neither had any residue on them. They were released to their parents.

An Elk Trail resident in Whitefish returned home from North Dakota to find his front door window broken, plywood over his garage door pulled off and three windows of his Ford Mustang broken out. The culprit or culprits also entered the house.

A man was assaulted in a bar on U.S. 2 West in Kalispell, when another man punched him several times, drawing blood. The victim said he would be waiting at the bar in a vehicle, but that vehicle took off with its two occupants swinging at each other while the vehicle traveled at close to 70 miles per hour.

Someone stole a flatbed trailer that was loaded with 220 six-foot cedar poles. The trailer was last seen on Sept. 14 on Parliament Drive.

A woman called to report that a rabbit on Fox Den Loop had been left without water. She let deputies know that she had given it water.

Someone cut a chain link fence around a U.S. 2 West property and cut all the lines on vehicles at the property.

Fifty rounds of .22-caliber ammunition and a “Hoochie Mama” elk call were stolen from an unlocked truck on Spruce Road.

A boat was vandalized and its stereo stolen on U.S. 2 East in Kalispell.

A backpack and a lock box containing medication and money were stolen on U.S. 2 East.

A longboard was stolen from a school on West Evergreen Drive.

Extension cords were stolen on Montana 35.

A 16-year-old girl reported to Kalispell Police Department that a black van with heavily tinted windows drove by her several times, then pulled over and asked her to get in. Inside the van was an approximately 12-year-old boy and a balding man with patchy facial hair who was driving.

A city resident told police she believes the people who live across the alley from her are dealing drugs. She had already advised the Northwest Drug Task Force, and was upset that no one had come out to take care of it as “they are doing a documentary and CBS is coming out soon.”

Chainsaws were reported stolen from a garage on Third Street East and the back of a vehicle on Fifth Avenue West.

It was reported that someone beat a man so bad it sent him to the hospital with a broken jaw and punctured lung, but the report was determined to be unfounded.

A woman was assaulted as she walked into a grocery store on Third Avenue East North.

A pair of suspicious men wearing dark clothing and carrying guns and backpacks were reported on U.S. 93 North. One of the men was wearing a motorcycle helmet.

A woman was arrested for driving under the influence and an active warrant following a traffic stop on Fourth Street West.

A report of a group of drunk men on East California Street turned out to be just one loud drunk man.

A drunk man on a bicycle drew attention by swerving around in traffic on East Idaho Street.

Guns and knives were stolen from a home on Sixth Avenue East North.

A man stole a 30-pack of Budweiser from a business on West Idaho Street.

Used needles were found on the road on Liberty Street.

A stereo was stolen from a vehicle on 12th Street East.

Pain medication was stolen on 10th Avenue West.

A Franlou Park Lane woman reported to the Columbia Falls Police Department that someone kicked in her door, breaking pieces off of it, while she was sleeping and ransacked her house. The intruder reportedly stole all her money, her checkbook and her pain medication.

Officers pursued and arrested a man who had active warrants with the Montana Highway Patrol, Missoula County and Columbia Falls police after locating him in a home on River Road.

A man was arrested after choking and threatening to kill his girlfriend on Ninth Street West.

A man was arrested for assault with a weapon on Martha Road.

Officers reunited a family with their young child after the boy was found in the middle of Nucleus Avenue.

A boy was arrested on an active felony warrant during a traffic stop on View Drive.

The Whitefish Police Department received a report of theft on U.S. 93 South.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a person for partner or family member assault after responding to a report of disorderly conduct on Range View Lane.
