The city of Whitefish will conduct an overlay project on Baker Avenue starting Monday.

The overlay is planned from Second Street to 13th Street.

One lane of Baker Avenue will remain open to traffic with flaggers at each end of the work zone. The project will start with milling at the north end near Second Street (U.S. 93) and proceed to the south.

The work will take about two weeks to complete, according to Karin Hilding, senior project engineer in the Whitefish Public Works Department.

Because Baker Avenue was used as a detour during the recent U.S. 93/Second Street rebuild, grant money remaining from that project will be used for the Baker overlay.
