Sentinel rolls over Flathead

MISSOULA — Missoula Sentinel broke open a tight ballgame with two long touchdown passes by Tres Cunningham in the final eight minutes of the first half as the Spartans buried Flathead 48-14 in Class AA football play Friday night.

Cunningham had four TD strikes as Sentinel improved to 2-3 overall. Flathead falls to 0-5.

Cunningham was 18 of 23 passing for 361 yards. He threw one interception.

Flathead’s Jerum AuClaire scored on a 11 yard run and Matt Tokarz on a 14 yard scamper to tie the contest at 14-all with 9:17 left in the second quarter. Sentinel ruled from that point on.

Sentinel had 599 yards in total offense to Flathead’s 352.

Tokarz rushed for 121 yards on 21 carries. He was 10 of 17 passing for 201 yards. He threw four interceptions.

Trampus Barton led FHS in receiving with four catches for 109 yards.

Up next for Flathead is the crosstown game on Friday at Legends Stadium with Glacier (3-2).
