Flathead High alumnus reads from graphic novel
Kalispell native Jonathan Fetter-Vorm returns home for a reading and discussion entitled “Ink and Atoms: An Evening of Comics, Atomic Bombs and History” at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the David M. Hashley Theatre at Flathead High School.
The event is part of the school’s International Baccalaureate Programme Guest Speaker Series.
Fetter-Vorm, a graduate of Flathead High School, earned a degree in history and art from Stanford University before beginning his career as a writer and graphic illustrator. He is the son of Kalispell attorney Darrell Worm and the late Mary Fetter.
Fetter-Vorm’s most recent work is “Trinity: A Graphic History of the First Atomic Bomb.” Published in June by Hill and Wang, a division of publishing giant Macmillan, “Trinity” has already gone into second printing. The graphic work powerfully captures the scientific, historical, political and human elements of this defining moment in human history.
During the day on Tuesday, Fetter-Vorm will be discussing his work with classes at Flathead High School. The evening event includes a reading from “Trinity” as well as an opportunity to engage the author in discussion of his work and research. Following the evening reading, there will be a book signing and a reception catered by the Flathead High culinary arts program.
All events are free to the public.
Books will be available for purchase at the event at a discounted price of $20 through Bookworks.
