Soccer roundup: Polson boys earn first conference win
POLSON — Polson’s boys soccer team scored twice in the second half of a 2-1 upset over Bigfork to earn its first Northern A victory Tuesday.
Bigfork (5-3-1, 3-2-1 Northern A) got off to a fast start when Anthony Fopp scored in the third minute, but the Vikings’ offense dried up as the game wore on.
Polson (2-5, 1-4 Northern A) rallied in the second half, with James Larson scoring an equalizer in the 70th minute, before Jonah Kasnitz netted the game winner five minutes later.
Polson hosts first-place Whitefish Thursday. Bigfork hosts Frenchtown in a nonconference game on Saturday.

LIBBY — Columbia Falls’ Casey Burghduff scored a 49th-minute equalizer as the Wildcats (2-4-2, 1-2-2 Northern A) and Libby (3-4-3, 1-2-3 Northern A) settled for a draw.
Zander Petersen scored in the 3rd minute to give Libby an early lead before Columbia Falls’ Connor Williams knotted the score in the 25th minute.
Libby retook the lead just after halftime on a Johnny Davidson goal.
Columbia Falls hosts Whitefish Saturday.

Stillwater Christian wasted little time in dispatching of Whitefish’s junior varsity squad, scoring five times in the first half.
The Cougars’ Zach Falk and Josh Bray each scored twice in the shutout victory and Zack Waldher had three assists. Stillwater had 10 shots on goal and five corner kicks.

Stillwater Christian 3, MVCA 1
Jessica Koch scored two goals as Stillwater Christian (7-2-2) earned a conference win against Mission Valley Christian Academy.
“We were very pleased with our midfield play today,” Stillwater Christian coach JR Hemp said. “We had some trouble shooting early, but composed ourselves and shot much better during the final third of the game.
“Jessica Koch had an outstanding game in the midfield, pulling down several balls and distributing them well.”
Koch netted her first goal in the 13th minute to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead. MVCA answered with a 19th minute free-kick goal by Libby Lichte.
Stillwater broke the tie in the 60th minute when McKenzie Hemp found the back of the net, then Koch added her second goal five minutes later after receiving a cross from Heather Bach.
Stillwater hosts Chrysalis Saturday at 11 a.m.
