The Kalispell Education Foundation is accepting grant applications for its Great Opportunities program.

The program offers $20,000 in grant funding this year. Up to $2,000 may be awarded to qualifying applicants. Applications are available at www.kalispelleducationfoundation.org and are due Oct. 15.

Mike Kofford, Kalispell Education Foundation director, said the purpose of the grants is to bring innovative projects into the classroom — projects that may not be funded by school budgets.

Applicants may be full- or part-time teachers in Kalispell Public Schools.

Teachers may apply as individuals or as groups. Previous grant recipients may reapply, but priority will be given to first-time applicants. Applications will be reviewed anonymously and rated on a point system by a committee of volunteers.

Applications may be emailed to koffordm@sd5.k12.mt.us or mailed to Kalispell Education Foundation, 233 First Ave. E., Kalispell, MT 5990.

Grand recipients will be notified Nov. 1. Recipients then have until June 30, 2013 to use grant funds for completing their project.
