MISSOULA — Kendall Halliburton scored a hat trick to lead the Glacier girls soccer team to a 4-1 win over Missoula Big Sky in a Western AA road match on Thursday.

Halliburton scored goals in the 25th and 30th minutes to give the Wolfpack a 2-0 lead at halftime, then capped those with an unassisted goal in the 67th.

“We worked all week on our offense and took to it,” Glacier coach Brenden Byrd said.

Anna Deleray, in her first game back from injury, scored in the 43rd minute.

“She added some life to the team,” Byrd said. “The players were excited to have her back.”

The win moved the Pack to 3-5 overall and in league play, heading into an important match at noon on Saturday with Flathead at Kidsports Complex.

“Every point helps right now, we need to make sure we finish the season strong,” Byrd said.

Glacier 3, Big Sky 2

MISSOULA — Freshman Colton Becker scored the first and last goals and Matt Peters scored in between and also provided an assist as Glacier tripped Missoula Big Sky in Western AA play.

Becker now has four goals on the season.

“The guys played very well throughout the game,” Glacier coach Ryan O’Rourke said.

“Particularly at the begging of the second half. That’s when we played some of the best soccer we’ve played all year.”

Glacier (5-2-1) held a slight edge in shots on goal with Big Sky (2-2-4), 8-7. Both teams had one corner kick.

“Both Tanner Maroney and Jake Lockwood dictated the pace of the game in the second half,” O’Rourke said.

“They were moving the ball quickly, winning balls in the middle of the field.

“With Colton (Becker) and Matt (Peters) at the forwards, it was a good game for them as well. They worked together on a couple goals.”

Up next for Glacier is the second crosstown match of the season with Flathead — 10 a.m. Saturday at Kidsports Complex.

POLSON — Whitefish gave up an early score, but bounced back by scoring eight times to pick up a Northern A victory and stay undefeated on the season.

James Larson’s penalty kick at 11 minutes gave Polson a quick 1-0 advantage.

“They were ahead for a few minutes,” Whitefish coach O’Brien Byrd said.

“That hasn’t happened in 20 games — someone scoring before us. It shook us up.”

Byrd said the Bulldogs struggled breaking through the Polson defense.

“Things weren’t going our way,” he said.

But that all changed when Sam Donaldson scored the first of his three goals at 15 minutes.

He also found the net at 38 and 64 minutes.

“Give Polson credit, they gave us a really good first half,” Byrd said.
