GREAT FALLS — The Glacier boys won their first outright Class AA state golf championship on Saturday while the Glacier girls brought home their first ever trophy with a runner-up performance.

Glacier was the lone team to break 300 on the final day, carding a 292 score for a 593 two-day total.

Billings Skyview, 606, was second and Billings West, 620, third.

Flathead, 659, was ninth.

The Glacier girls finished second with their 690 score. Billings Senior won it with a 671.

“Six for six,” Glacier coach Rob Logsdon said of the Glacier boys bringing home hardware from the state tournament every year.

“The girls had never won a trophy until today.”

The Glacier boys tied for first in 2007, have finished second three times and third once.

Glacier’s Logan Iverson, 75-71—146, finished third. Ryan Porch, 72-76—148, and Tommy Mann, 74-74—148, tied for fourth.

Parker Bradley of Billings Skyview, 74-70—144, was the medalist.

Flathead’s Max Applegate, 83-67—150, was eighth. Applegate had the best round on the final day at Eagle Falls Golf Course.

“I really thought Ryan and Logan were the two best players in the state,” Logsdon said.

“Sometimes the best players don’t win. They will get over it. Hat’s off to those kids who played outstanding golf and won the tournament.

“This group of boys has always been about winning the team title,” Logsdon added.

“There were no sad faces at the end.”

The Glacier boys won every tournament they competed in this fall.

Kortney McNeil, 80-74–154, of Billings Senior won the girls individual title.

Glacier’s Teigan Avery, 74-82–156, was second.

The Flathead girls, 804, wound up 10th. The Bravettes were led by Morgan Knutson, 89-103–192.
