E. Boyd Hartman, 89

E. Boyd Hartman, 89, died March 27, 2013, in Stayton, Ore. 

He was born June 17, 1923, in Somers, where he grew up. 

Boyd lived in Montana until 1969 when he moved to Alaska. He  moved  to Oregon in 1978, living in Oregon City and moving to Dallas five years ago. 

He was a member of the Teamsters Union and Calvary Chapel in Dallas. Boyd worked as a hunting guide in the Bob Marshall Wilderness in Montana, on the pipeline in Alaska for many years, even running Cat convoys to the North Slope, and later driving truck. 

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most important to him was family. 

Boyd married Carol (Johnson) Pierce on April 15, 1964, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. 

He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Gary Pierce of Dallas, Pete Pierce of Stayton, Bob Hartman of Moses Lake, Wash., and Tom Hartman of Chugiak, Alaska; daughters, Lori Brekhus of The Woodlands, Texas, and Kathy Schlotfeut of Napa Valley, Calif.; sister, Hazel Halsey, of Libby; sister-in-law, Marie Hartman, of Kalispell; 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. 

Boyd was preceded in death by a brother, Glen Hartman; sister, Effie Bradford; and grandson, Eric Pierce. 

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. April 4 at Mehama Community Church in Mehama.
