Kalispell Police arrested a man on three counts of felony assault on a law enforcement officer after an incident behind the police station the night of March 30.

The incident started when an officer left through the back door of the station and was confronted by Kalispell resident Brandon Haddon, 24.

“Haddon ran towards the officer holding an unknown object in his hand,” state a press release that came out Monday. “The officer retreated back into the station to take a point of cover. The officer was then able to determine the object was a can of pepper spray. Haddon yelled at the officer to shoot him.”

Two other officers responded to assist, temporarily distracting Haddon and giving the initial officer time to deploy his Taser. But that didn’t deter Haddon enough, and he was able to spray the officer with pepper spray and then spray the other two officers, who also deployed their Tasers.

Haddon was then incapacitated and taken into custody, but he continued to struggle during the arrest. He is now being held at the Flathead County Detention Center.
