POLSON — Polson scored four runs in the third inning to end a Libby rally and put the Northwestern A conference softball game out of reach, the Pirates winning 11-1 in five innings.

Libby scored a run in the second to cut the Pirates lead to 3-1 before Polson scored eight runs over the next three innings to end the game on the 10-run rule.

“Polson hit the ball real hard today,” Libby coach Dean Thompson said. “They’re a great team. Shay (Duford) pitched a good game. That third inning they put everybody up to bat and hit the ball real hard.”

Three players had multiple hits for the Pirates, including Duford, who went 2 for 3 from the plate and allowed only four hits from the circle.

Hannah England went 2 for 2 for the Loggers in the loss. Libby plays at Whitefish on Saturday.
