A 20-year-old Kalispell man accused of violently assaulting an 18-year-old Glacier High School student has denied the charges against him.

Daniel Rasmussen is facing felony counts of criminal endangerment and criminal mischief for the March 21 attack.

Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry said Rasmussen allegedly showed up at the teen’s home, angry because his ex-girlfriend was now dating the victim, and punched him several times in the face. A court document also indicated a witness saw Rasmussen kick the victim in the head.

As a result of the assault, the teen sustained a broken nose and both his eyes swelled shut.

The criminal mischief charge stemmed from Rasmussen allegedly denting a vehicle at the teen’s home, causing roughly $2,000 in damage.

He is currently released after posting a $100,000 cash bond, according to case information read during the hearing by District Judge Robert Allison.

A bond reduction hearing is scheduled for April 18.
