Snow and rain washed out several high school sporting events in western Montana Saturday.

Bigfork’s track and field invitational and the Missoula Invitational tennis meet were both canceled and will not be rescheduled.

Glacier and Flathead’s Western AA conference softball games against Helena High and Helena Capital, set to be held in Kalispell, were postponed. Make up dates will be announced this week, Flathead activities director Bryce Wilson said.

Eureka was supposed to host a softball doubleheader with Florence, but that was also postponed.

The Bigfork Invitational began at 9:30 a.m., but was called off an hour later because snow made the track unsafe.

“We held on to the last minute, but in the end it was in the best interest of the kids,” Bigfork activities director Matt Porrovecchio said.

Fifteen schools ranging from Libby to Cut Bank attended the meet, which was canceled for the first time in at least five years.

The Missoula track and field invitational — which included Glacier, Flathead, Columbia Falls and Polson — went as scheduled, but Glacier boys coach Arron Deck said a few snow squalls blew through Missoula during the meet.
