Jewelry-making classes start at trading post
Powder Horn Trading Co.’s spring session of jewelry-making classes begin this week. Whether you’re interested in working with crystals or metal, the eclectic Evergreen store’s class selection has you covered:
• Monday, April 22, 6:30 p.m. — Dragonfly pin
Cindy Hartley teaches this class that will use WireLace and Swarovski crystals to create a pin or eye-catching mobile. Cost is $25 and includes materials, but students are asked to bring their own tools.
• Wednesday, April 24, 6:30 p.m. — Beginner 101
Nancy Williams teaches the ABCs of jewelry making in this class, in which students will use their new skills to make a pair of earrings and a bracelet. Cost is $15, plus supplies.
• April 30, 6:30 p.m. — Helms chain
Anita Iverson teaches this pattern, also called the parallel chain, which is perfect for beginners. Cost is $25, plus supplies.
• May 7, 6:30 p.m. — Advanced stamping and riveting
Donna Miller teaches this class, in which students will take their metal texturing to the next level by creating scenes and designs on metalwork using metal stamps. Cost is $40; all supplies and tools are included.
• May 8, 6:30 p.m. — Riveting for connection and decoration
Miller also teaches this class, which covers making a variety of functional and decorative rivets. Cost is $45; all supplies and tools are included.
