WHITEFISH — Andrea Lamaroux pitched a 1-hitter and Shannon Craft, MacKenzie Carl and Halle Reading all went 3-for-3 at the plate as Whitefish whipped Browning 23-2 on Tuesday in Class A nonconference softball play.

Lamaroux struck out 12 batters and issued six walks in the six-inning contest.

Craft drove in five runs. Carl and Malia Morris, 3-for-4, both had doubles.

Whitefish totaled 18 hits in picking up its first win of the season.

The second game was called after three innings because of the weather. Whitefish was leading in that game 20-0 and Reading was working on a no-hitter.

“It was nice to see my team come around at the plate, hit the ball and score some runs,” WHS coach Carrie Lamb said.

“This should give the girls a lot of confidence.”

Whitefish has league games Friday at Frenchtown and Saturday at home with Polson at noon.
