Softball roundup: Glacier hammers Hellgate; Frenchtown whips Whitefish
MISSOULA — The Glacier softball team continued its offensive tear with a 14-1 Western AA win over Missoula Hellgate Friday.
The win was Glacier’s sixth in a row and improved the Wolfpack’s conference record to 5-0 (7-2 overall).
Ali Williams batted 2-for-2 with two home runs and was the winning pitcher, allowing one unearned run on five hits. She pitched all five innings and tallied six strikeouts.
“Offensively we didn’t score any runs in the first inning, but after that the bats heated up a little bit,” Glacier coach Andy Fors said. “We had girls making contact. Very similar to what we’ve seen recently, they stepped up one through nine and put the ball in play.”
Hannah Atlee, Kayleena Ikeda, Anna Jenks and Ali Newton each batted 2-for-4.
The win completed Glacier’s season sweep over Hellgate, which the Wolfpack defeated 8-3 on April 2.

FRENCHTOWN — Frenchtown pitcher Morgan Ray hurled a perfect game in a win over Whitefish.
Ray struck out out all 15 batters she faced on 60 pitches.
Ray also collected three hits in four at bats while teammate Vanessa Stavish homered and tallied six RBIs.
Frenchtown improved to 2-1 in the Northwestern A conference, while Whitefish fell to 0-3.
