Kalispell to host state track in 2015
The 2015 Class AA and B state track meets will be held at Legends Stadium.
Kalispell received the winning bid at the Montana High School Association’s Executive Board meeting April 15-16.
Kalispell was originally supposed to host the 2014 meet, but the date conflicted with a soccer tournament.
“We knew since last year that we had it, but they adjusted the year we would host,” Glacier activities director Mark Dennehy said. “The biggest thing there is they were worried about hotel accommodations for everyone.”
Dennehy said parking will be available for team buses at the south end of the stadium, but spectators will have to park on the street in the neighborhood surrounding Legends Stadium.
Kalispell also bid to host the 2014-2015 Class AA state soccer and softball tournaments, but those events were awarded to Great Falls and Missoula, respectively.
“Almost every year we try to bid soccer and softball to come to the Valley,” Dennehy said.
Kalispell last hosted the state track meet in 2009.
“We look forward to doing it and as we get ready we’re going to need a lot of volunteers to get it done,” Dennehy said.
